Here are two from the last couple weeks. The rainy day painting was a particularly beautiful misty rainy day, which we hadn't had in a while so it was much appreciated. Trees were just starting to leaf out.
Rainy Day View, 8 x 10

Two Days later the rain had cleared. Foothills trail View, 8 x 10, a scene along the foothills north of Boulder. The patterns in the foliage on the hillside never fail to catch my interest.

A trip to North Park

North Park is a large valley in northern Colorado surrounded by several ranges of mountains, mostly containing cattle ranches and sagebrush prairie with state and federal wildlife areas. Rocky Mountain Park's Never Summer Range is to the South, Medicine Bow mountains run up the east side and the Park Range is on the west side. We took a couple-day trip up there to see it before spring had completely settled in. There were plenty of antelope and some moose around grazing on grass at sunset. It seems we were a bit early to catch the peak of the waterbird migration but we sill saw plenty of avocets, pelicans and various kinds of ducks. The mountains overlooking the valley still had a lot of snow cover making for some spectacular scenery. From several overlooks you can see oxbows in the Arapaho Wildlife Refuge and oxbows along the North Platte River. I painted at one of these overlooks along the Platte River. Here's that painting.
