Mountain Backdrop

This one is from a painting trip to Golden Ponds. Instead of painting the water I went for the view across the lake of the mountains emerging from foggy morning clouds. There was still a lot of snow on the mountains due to the cold and rainy weather that week so the view was great.

A Shift in Time

This painting was a sort of demo - I needed a couple photos of me painting so dragged my husband along to take the pictures.
Here's the painting that I did while he was shooting photos, and a couple of the resulting shots.

A Stormy Morning

Things weren't looking like a great morning to paint as it was threatening to rain at any moment but I went anyway. These stormy clouds moving in over Union Reservoir and it actually turned out to be a great subject. Found a nice overhang to stand under so missed the occasional rain drops.

Boulder County Plein Air Festival

The festival just finished up this week and the opening was on Friday the 6th. The show will be up until the end of June at the Armory in Boulder which is open 6 days a week, 9-6 Mon. through Fri., and 10-5 on Sat.
One of my paintings, Dodd Lake, won the Best Landscape Award, which I am thrilled to have won. Here's a photo of it - not sure if the colors are exactly right in this photo, since I don't have it here to look at. I'll put up some of the other paintings I did for the festival soon. In all I did 9 paintings, of which 5 could be entered. So I'll post a couple of the outtakes too.

Along the Greenway

I painted this one along the Greenway at one of the group PAAC outings. I have painted this pond and it's environs many times. In fact, I decided to look through my old plein air sketches and see how many I could find that I painted in this location. I actually found nineteen paintings that I did at this location, looking in practically every direction. They are all different seasons, different times of day, cloud paintings, land paintings, water paintings, tree paintings. This one is looking east toward one of the ponds.

I did a second painting the same morning. This one is called Across the Fields, 8 x 8, below, this one looking south-east.

I painted this same view in the fall - maybe never posted this one. Here it is for comparison.
