A Rocky Golden Stream
This was from a painting trip with the Estes park PAAC group (plein air artists of Colorado) to the St. Vrain River in Lyons CO. The early morning reflections from a bank of sunlit brush was reflecting on the river with a bright patch of green/gold. I could not resist trying to paint it before the light changed and took it away, which it soon did. This was a fun picture to paint. I did it with a limited palette of alizarin permanent, prussian blue, cadmium yellow lemon and yellow ocher, and white of course. This was the same area where I painted another rocky stream picture in May. This is a place I'd love to paint more often, if it were not on some privately owned land.
Rocky Golds, 8 x 10, sold.

Here's the earlier one, Sandstone Stairway, 9 x 12.
