A couple more outdoor paintings
We had a very hot autumn with no snow this year, and after a while I despaired of ever seeing any scene that wasn't primarily brown, and so did a bunch of brown paintings, none of which I particularly liked. I did manage to get to paint for the December full moon. Then on December 31 we finally started having some snow. So I've been out a couple times painting snow. Here are a few of those plein air paintings from the last two months, many of which ended up getting scrappped.

December moon. 9 x 12. This one I did from inside the car as the wind was quite unmanageable.

Cattails in Snow, 8 x 10, from last Thursday. Still some snow left, and not too cold.

Sandstone Gully, 9 x 12. I stood shin deep in a snow bank in a playground to do this one.

Pella Browns, 8 x 10. A very brown sort of day in late December.
