Here's a studio painting I recently finished of a mountain scene. This was based on photos I took one summer evening near Vail Pass. We were on our way back from visiting a gallery and stopped to eat some sandwiches at this rest area.

This was just a tiny part of the  Gore Range  we could see from our vantage point. It was early July and all the snow had still not melted off the peaks. There were late afternoon clouds throwing large dark shadows here and there on the mountainsides.
